The Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND), established in 1997 and headquartered in Beirut, is a regional advocacy body that brings together civil society organizations from across the Middle East and North Africa to strengthen democracy, social justice, sustainable development, and human rights. By uniting NGOs, unions, and research centers under one umbrella, ANND provides a collective voice for civil society in regional and global policy arenas, engaging with institutions such as the United Nations, the League of Arab States, and international financial organizations. Its work focuses on amplifying the role of civil society in policy dialogue, advancing inclusive development strategies, and defending civic space in the Arab world.
Dr. Allaghi was a founding and influential figure in ANND, contributing her experience as a sociologist, development practitioner, and women’s rights advocate to shape the network’s mission and strategic priorities.
